Cardiac Scintigraphy

Aim of the investigation: Blood flow imaging of the heart muscles of the left ventricle at rest and under stress

Indications:

 

  • Coronary artery disease
  • Examination of resilience and/or need for treatment
  • Check-up examination after successful therapy

 

Preparation for the examination:

  • After consultation with your doctor
    • Do not take beta-blockers from 2-3 days before the examination
    • Do not take beta-blockers from 2-3 days before the examination
  • Appear sober on the day of the examination (no caffeinated drinks, no coffee, no cocoa, no black tea)
  • Bring a high-fat meal 

Procedure of the examination:

 

  • Doctor's consultation to explain any uncertainties regarding the examination
  • Medication or ergometric stress under ECG and blood pressure control
  • Injection of the radiopharmaceutical under stress
  • Taking the images approx. 1 hour after injection
  • Break
  • Injection of the radiopharmaceutical at rest
  • Recording approx. 1 hour after injection
  • Debriefing
  • The findings are sent to the requesting doctor in writing as soon as possible.

 

Radiopharmaceutical used: Tc-99m MIBI
