Aim of the examination:
- Determination of the erythrocyte survival time
- Determination of the degradation site
Indications: Anemia
Preparation for the examination:
- Bring along the current blood values
- No blood transfusions during the examination
Procedure of the examination:
- Consultation with the doctor to explain any uncertainties regarding the examination
- Blood collection
- Marking of the erythrocytes with a radiopharmaceutical
- Reinjection of the labeled blood
- Determination of the measurement areas (heart, liver, spleen, sacrum) using ultrasound
- Probe measurement of the labeled regions
- Further probe measurements and blood samples over the next 3 weeks (1st week daily, 2nd and 3rd week every 3 days)
- Debriefing
- The findings are sent to the requesting doctor in writing as soon as possible

Internal cardiac scintigraphy
Aim of the examination: Determination of the pumping capacity of the right and left ventricle at rest and under stress
Indications:
- Cardiac muscle damage or weakness
- Condition after a heart attack
- Condition after cardiac surgery
- Assessment of function before lung transplants
- Follow-up of therapy with heart-damaging medication
Preparation for the examination: No special preparation on the part of the patient is necessary
Procedure of the examination:
- Consultation with the doctor to explain any uncertainties regarding the examination
- Blood collection
- Marking of the erythrocytes with a radiopharmaceutical
- Reinjection of the labeled blood
- Preparation of the images
- Exposure to medication if images are taken at the same time
- Debriefing
- Report of findings to the requesting physician as soon as possible in written form

- Determination of perfusion reserve in the brain
Indications:
- Dementia (Alzheimer's disease)
- circulatory disorders
- cerebral infarction
- Condition after cerebral hemorrhage
- epilepsy
Preparation for the examination: special preparation on the part of the patient is not necessary
Procedure of the examination:
- Consultation with the doctor to explain any uncertainties regarding the examination
- Resting phase of approx. 15 minutes (lying down, eyes closed, no talking, darkened room)
- Injection of the Tc-99m-Neurolite
- Recording after approx. 10 minutes
- For certain questions:
- Injection of Diamox after a further 5 minutes (recording still in progress)
- Injection of Tc-99m-Neurolite after completion of the recording
- Preparation of the image after approx. 10 minutes
- Debriefing
- Findings are sent to the requesting doctor in writing as soon as possible

Liver scintigraphy
Aim of the examination: Assessment of masses in the liver
Indications:
- Liver perfusion scintigraphy
- Functional scintigraphy of the liver
Preparation for the examination: fasting is required
Procedure of the examination:
- Liver perfusion scintigraphy (blood pool scintigraphy):
- Consultation with the doctor to explain any uncertainties regarding the examination
- If necessary, blockade of the thyroid gland with perchlorate (Irenat drops)
- Injection of the radiopharmaceutical
- Taking of images after injection and after 2 hours
- Debriefing
- The findings are sent to the requesting doctor in writing as soon as possible
- Functional scintigraphy of the liver (biliary scintigraphy):
- Consultation with the doctor to explain any uncertainties regarding the examination
- Injection of the radiopharmaceutical
- Acquisition of images after injection and after 90 minutes, if necessary SPECT and sorbital administration
- Debriefing
- Assignment of findings to the requesting physician as soon as possible in written form

Aim of the examination: visualization of blood flow in the muscles of the left ventricle at rest
Indications:
- Differentiation between scar tissue and vital muscle tissue in the case of a heart attack
- Clarification of the prospects of success of a bypass operation
Preparation for the examination: fasting on the day of the examination
Procedure of the examination:
- Consultation with the doctor to explain any uncertainties regarding the examination
- Injection of the radiopharmaceutical
- Taking the images 5-10 minutes and 3-4 hours after injection
- Debriefing
- The findings are sent to the requesting doctor in writing as soon as possible

Aim of the examination: Tumor visualization
Indications:
- Pheochromocytoma
- Neuroblastoma (in childhood)
- Medullary thyroid carcinomas
- Carcinoids
Preparation for the examination: no special preparation is required on the part of the patient
Procedure of the examination:
- Consultation with the doctor to explain any uncertainties regarding the examination
- Blockade of the thyroid gland with perchlorate (Irenat drops)
- Injection of the radiopharmaceutical after 30 minutes
- Images are taken after approx. 4-5 hours and after 24 hours
- Debriefing
- The findings are sent to the requesting doctor in writing as soon as possible
Special features: images may be taken after 48 hours
