Aim of the examination: Imaging of the parathyroid gland

Indications:

• Parathyroid adenoma
• Control after transplantation

Preparation for the examination: Special preparation on the part of the patient is not necessary

Procedure of the examination::

• Doctor's consultation to explain any uncertainties regarding the examination
• Injection of the radiopharmaceutical
• Static images after 15 and 120 minutes
• Tomographic images after 90 minutes
• Debriefing
• The findings are sent to the requesting doctor in writing as soon as possible

Special features: Performing a sonography during or after the examination

Radiopharmaceutical used: Tc-99m MIBI
