Lymphatic scintigraphy
Aim of the examination:
- Imaging of lymphatic drainage
Indications:
- Primary or secondary lymphoedema
Preparation for the examination: no special preparation on the part of the patient is necessary
Procedure of the examination:
- Consultation with the doctor to explain any uncertainties regarding the examination
- Visualization of the lymphatic drainage:
- Injection of the radiopharmaceutical into the space between the fingers or toes
- Taking several images along the lymphatic pathways
- The findings are sent to the requesting doctor in writing as soon as possible
Radiopharmaceutical used: Tc-99m labeled colloidal particles (e.g. denatured albumin)
