Skeletal scintigraphy

Aim of the investigation:

 

  • Visualization and assessment of bone metabolism using radiochemically labeled phosphonates
  • Localization of bone metabolism disorders

 

Indications:

 

  • Secondary bone tumors (metastases from e.g. prostate carcinoma, renal cell carcinoma, breast carcinoma)
  • Primary bone tumors
  • Inflammatory skeletal and joint diseases
  • Osteonecrosis
  • loosening of artificial joints
  • Detection of unrecognized fractures

 

Preparation for the examination:

  • Special preparation on the part of the patient is not necessary

Procedure of the examination:

 

  • Doctor's consultation to explain any uncertainties regarding the examination
  • Injection of the radiopharmaceutical

 

      Waiting time of approx. 3-4 hours
    • During this time, the patient should drink as much as possible (approx. 1 bottle of water)
    • It is not necessary to stay in the clinic
  • Production of the images
  • Post consultation
  • The findings are sent to the requesting doctor in writing as soon as possible

Radiopharmaceutical used: Tc-99m DPD
