Salivary gland scintigraphy
Aim of the examination: Detection of functional disorders of the salivary glands
Indications:
- Chronic or acute inflammation
- Salivary gland stones
- Assessment of salivary gland function after surgery or radiation
Preparation for the examination: sober appearance is required
Procedure of the examination:
- Doctor's consultation to explain any uncertainties regarding the examination
- Injection of the radiopharmaceutical
- Preparation of the images
- Debriefing
- Assignment of findings to the requesting doctor as soon as possible in written form
Radiopharmaceutical used: Tc-99m Pertechnetat
