FDG
FDG-PET is a nuclear medicine procedure that can used to show images of sugar metabolism. .
Indications:
- Oncology:

- Localization of a tumor
- Assessment of malignancy
- Assessment of the spread (metastases?) and the stage of the disease
- Checking the success of treatment after surgery, radiotherapy, and/or chemotherapy
- Neurology:
- Differentiation of dementia-related diseases (e.g. Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia)
- Clarification of epileptic seizures
- Infectology:
- Infect focus search
- Cardiology:
- Assessment of myocardial vitality
- Assessment of sarcoidosis
Preparation for the examination: fasting is required (calorie-free drinks such as mineral water permitted)
Procedure of the examination:
- Doctor's consultation to explain any uncertainties regarding the examination
- Determination of the blood glucose level (<8.3 mmol/l)
- Injection of the radiopharmaceutical (possibly administration of furosemide)
- Quiet positioning for 60 minutes
- Preparation of the images
- The findings are sent to the requesting doctor in writing as soon as possible.
